GENEVA — A sale of luxury watches, including a Rolex worn by Roger Moore as
James Bond, exceeded expectations to net $28.4 million (US) in Geneva, Christie's said.
The highlight of the nine-hour auction was the sale of a pink gold wristwatch
manufactured by Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe in 1968, which fetched $2.1 million (US), more than double its pre-auction estimate worth.
Another high point was the sale of a Rolex worn by actor Roger Moore as the
spy character James Bond in the film "Live and Let Die" for a little over $239,000 (US).
Some 222 sellers from 39 countries, many from China, took part in the
auction, Christie's auction house said
